On December 17, a solemn presentation of the document took place - the decision of the Feodosia City Council session of November 26, 2021 No. 365 on the assignment of the name of the Hero of the Soviet Union Sergei Nikolaevich Kotov to school No. 19 of the city of Feodosia.
The head of the Feodosia city district, the chairman of the city council Angela Serdyukova, arrived to convey this honorable decision, framed in a beautiful frame, and to congratulate the students and teachers. She was also supported by other representatives of the local deputy corps. Among the invited guests were also servicemen of the active formations of the armed forces.
The schoolchildren, in turn, showed their readiness to proudly bear the name of Rear Admiral Sergei Kotov, Hero of the Soviet Union. The event began with the solemn introduction of banners and continued with a small concert. The guys presented songs, dances and poems to the audience. Adult artists also performed here. The famous Feodosia singer Miedin Abilev delighted the audience with a wonderful song "Blue Eternity (Oh, sea, sea!)".
Of course, there was also a story about the most legendary Rear Admiral Kotov. And also a video message from the grandchildren and great-grandchildren of Sergei Nikolevich to the young Feodosians was shown. Relatives of the Hero of the Soviet Union also kindly provided archival film recordings of their famous ancestor. The viewers perceived the footage of the black-and-white chronicle with special trepidation. From the screen, an outstanding person looked at the students, whose name from now on will be proudly borne by his native school.
Reference information . Hero of the Soviet Union, Rear Admiral Sergei Nikolaevich Kotov (10/1/1912 - 10/16/1999) was born in the city of Kozlov (now Michurinsk, Tambov Region). In 1937 he graduated from the Frunze Naval School. Kotov from July 1941 on the fronts of the Great Patriotic War, the whole war was in the Black Sea Fleet. He commanded a link, from August 1942 - a detachment, from September 1942 - a battalion of torpedo boats of the 1st Order of Nakhimov, 1st degree, a brigade of torpedo boats of the Black Sea Fleet. He took part in the defense of Odessa, in the defense of Sevastopol, in the Kerch-Feodosia landing operation, in the battle for the Caucasus, in the Novorossiysko-Taman, Kerch-Eltigen landing, Crimean, Yassko-Kishinev offensive operations.
After the end of the war, Kotov continued to serve in the USSR Navy. From December 1946 he was the chief of staff of the 1st Sevastopol brigade of torpedo boats. Since August 1950, he was at the disposal of the Naval General Staff, on a long business trip. In the People's Republic of China, he trained local sailors. From February 1952 he served as the head of the 232nd test range of the Navy in Feodosia. In September 1970, Rear Admiral Kotov retired due to illness.
He lived in Feodosia, worked as a senior engineer in the chief designer's department at the Feodosia branch of KB Novator, participating in tests of missile systems. The bust of Kotov was installed in Feodosia on the Alley of Heroes. Memorial plaques - in the cities of Michurinsk and Feodosia (street Russkaya, building 1).
By order of the Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Navy, the name "Sergei Kotov" was assigned to the patrol ship of project 22160 (laid down at the Zelenodolsk shipyard on May 8, 2016). In January 2021, this patrol ship was launched at the Kerch shipyard "Zaliv". "Sergei Kotov" joined the Black Sea Fleet.
