Jennifer Lopez thanks friends and foes in moving speech at MTV Awards

Jennifer Lopez gave an emotional speech at the 2022 MTV Movie and TV Awards while receiving her 'Generation Award'.

The singer looked stunned in a striking black dress as she accepted the stage award, taking the opportunity to thank her colleagues over the years.

She said, "You're only as good as the people you work with and if you're lucky they make you better, and I've been very lucky in that regard. »

The 'On The Floor' singer also added that she wanted to offer a "different kind of thank you" before acknowledging the difficulties she faced during her successful career.

Lopez continued, “I want to thank the people who gave me joy and the people who broke my heart.

“Those who were true and those who lied to me. I want to thank true love and I want to thank the way I lied to myself - because that's how I knew I could grow.

The Made in Manhattan actress began to cry as she thanked her children for "teaching her to love," which drew a burst of applause from the audience.

She continued, “I want to thank everyone who told me — across the street or when I wasn't in the room — that I couldn't do this. I really don't think I could have done it without you.

“And I know I couldn't have done it without the fans who saw the movies. »

She added, “You are the reason I am here and have been here, and I love you. »

Lopez also thanked his manager Benny Medina, saying that "he doesn't like me talking about him," in which the camera pans to a visibly shy Medina nodding at the singer.

She said: "If there's a person who believed in me from the start, from the first time I played him a little tattered demo of a song I wrote that day, he never let me stop believing in myself. It was him. »

Lopez concluded her speech by saying, “And Ben (Affleck) and everyone at home, wait until I have dinner, I will be home at seven. »

Her award comes weeks before the release of Lopez's upcoming documentary Halftime, exploring her multi-faceted career and preparing for the 2019 Super Bowl Halftime Show .

Federal Reserve lent $300 billion in emergency funds to banks in the past week

WASHINGTON (AP) — Cash-short banks have borrowed about $300 billion from the Federal Reserve in the past week, the central bank announced Thursday. Nearly half the money — $143 billion — went to holding companies for two major banks that failed over the past week, Silicon Valley Bank and Signature Bank, triggering widespread alarm in financial markets. The Fed did not identify the banks that received the other half of the funding or say how many of them did so. The holding companies for the two failed banks were set up by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, which has taken over both banks. The money they borrowed was used to pay their uninsured depositors, with bonds owned by both banks posted as collateral. The FDIC has guaranteed the repayment of the loans, the Fed said. The figures provide a first glimpse of the scale of the Fed’s assistance to the financial sector after the two banks collapsed this past weekend. ...
