New American Crime Story Trailer Depicts Clinton and Lewinsky Affair

It's a star-studded flashback to a scandal that rocked the nation in 1998 as Monica Lewinsky confronts Linda Tripp and we get our first glimpse of Clive Owen as Bill Clinton in the latest trailer for the upcoming series. FX on Clinton's impeachment. .

The trailer for "Impeachment: American Crime Story" shows Beanie Feldstein as Lewinsky when she first met Clinton, as well as her interactions with Linda Tripp, played by an unrecognizable Sarah Paulson, who recorded their conversations.

The series, which premieres September 7 on FX, focuses on Clinton's 1998 impeachment and her relationship to Lewinsky from the perspective of women heavily involved in the events; In addition to Feldstein and Paulson, Annaleigh Ashford plays Paula Jones, who filed a sexual harassment complaint against Clinton related to the impeachment.

The trailer shows Tripp, who has become a close confidant of Lewinsky, sharing several tapes of taped phone calls with the White House intern that contributed to Clinton's impeachment.

It also gives insight into Edie Falco as Hillary Clinton and Billy Eichner as Matt Drudge, editor of the Drudge Report, who revealed the story of the scandal.

The clip also shows Clinton saying the famous line, “I haven't had sex with this woman. "

Lewinsky was producer of the series, directed by Ryan Murphy.

“I was hesitant and actually more than a little scared to sign,” Lewinsky told Vanity Fair in 2019. “But after a long dinner with Ryan, I came to understand again more clearly how determined he is to give a voice to the marginalized in all of his brilliant work. I have the privilege to work with him and the other talented people on the team, and I am privileged to have this opportunity.

“I'm so grateful for the growth we've made as a company that allows people like me who have been historically silenced to finally bring my voice back into the conversation,” she continued. “It's not just a problem for me. Powerful people, often men, take advantage of those who are subordinate to them all the time in a variety of ways. A lot of people will see this as such a story and for that reason this tale is one that is, unfortunately, evergreen. "

“Impeachment: American Crime Story” is the third installment in the series examining the gruesome scandals that have gripped the nation. It follows “The People v. OJ Simpson, ”which also included Paulson as prosecutor Marcia Clark, and“ The Assassination of Gianni Versace, ”which examined the murder of the famous fashion designer.

Federal Reserve lent $300 billion in emergency funds to banks in the past week

WASHINGTON (AP) — Cash-short banks have borrowed about $300 billion from the Federal Reserve in the past week, the central bank announced Thursday. Nearly half the money — $143 billion — went to holding companies for two major banks that failed over the past week, Silicon Valley Bank and Signature Bank, triggering widespread alarm in financial markets. The Fed did not identify the banks that received the other half of the funding or say how many of them did so. The holding companies for the two failed banks were set up by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, which has taken over both banks. The money they borrowed was used to pay their uninsured depositors, with bonds owned by both banks posted as collateral. The FDIC has guaranteed the repayment of the loans, the Fed said. The figures provide a first glimpse of the scale of the Fed’s assistance to the financial sector after the two banks collapsed this past weekend. ...
