Not Just Spider-Man: The Next Benedict Cumberbatch Movie

The trailer for Spider-Man: No Way Home has revolutionized social media, where users are constantly commenting on the preview, formulating theories, and sharing their excitement for the film's release. And is that the band, which will star Tom Holland and Benedict Cumberbatch , will arrive in December of this year and promise to be one of the most ambitious feature films in the Marvel Cinematic Universe . But beyond the excitement generated by this launch, the truth is that the two actors have other projects on the agenda.

In the case of Cumberbatch, he has already published Le mauritanien and in a few days it will arrive The Electric Life of Louis Wain . But a fourth project is added to the list of films to be presented this year. This is the dog of power , a film that will be available in Netflix 's December 1, 2021, just two weeks before Man spider landing in theaters.

The power of the dog

Dog Powder will be based on the novel by Thomas Savage (Netflix).

Inspired by the homonymous novel by Thomas Sauvage , the film will be directed by New Zealander Jeanne Campion . Its plot will reveal a confrontation between two brothers: on one side, Phil Burbank (Benedict Cumberbatch) and on the other, George Burbank ( Jesse plemons ). How does the conflict arise? Phil is a breeder who inspires fear and wonder in those around him. When his brother brings his new wife and son home, he constantly torments them.

The big cast is completed by Kirsten Dunst (Rose), Kodi Smit McPhee (Pierre) and Thomasin McKenzie (Lola). It is without a doubt a promising film. So much so that he will soon compete for the Golden Lion at the Venice Film Festival . And she has a lot of chances to get it: Campion was already the winner of the Palme d'Or at Cannes with Le piano - which won three Oscar prizes - and the Special Jury Prize at the Mostra with Un ange à ma table .

The power of the dog

Kirsten Dunst will play Rose in The Power of the Dog (Netflix).

Like many films that have taken place over the past two years, filming which began in January 2020 in New Zealand's southern Otago region has been halted by the pandemic. It was not until June that production was able to resume recordings which ended and they will have their premiere in select theaters during the month of November. However, its global launch will be on the streaming giant. A huge project for Cumberbatch that heats up the engines to surprise again with Doctor Strange .
