After the disappearance of Jürgen Conings, Defense took measures against twelve other soldiers with also right-wing extremist sympathies. They temporarily lost access to weapons depots or sensitive areas, among other things. Two of them are now being investigated further by the security services, De Morgen learned from sources at the security services.
This is a so-called preliminary investigation to see whether the soldiers should be included in the Common Database of the OCAD. In principle, they can be labeled 'potentially violent extremist' or 'hate propagandist'. The public prosecutor's office, State Security, military intelligence, the federal police and the OCAD are involved in the investigation.
The fact that a soldier is included on the list is very exceptional: Jürgen Conings, who was reported as a 'potentially violent extremist', was the first and for the time being the only one.
The measures have now been lifted for a majority of the military who lost access to weapons depots and sensitive sites. In addition to the two soldiers who may end up in the GGB, a judicial investigation is also underway against one or more soldiers, the ADIV reports.
One of the soldiers whose measures have not yet been lifted has been suspended for the time being. The others are still at work, but have to do without security clearance.
